Requirements and Costs for a Working Vacation

Participants should be ready and willing to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment. We will explain tasks and guide you though the program, but flexibility and being "coach-able" will make everything run more smoothly.

Age Group:

Working Vacationers are typically from 25 to 65 years of age.

Length of Program:

The length for the working vacation program is either 1 week or 2 weeks. We ask that you be available to work with us 4 days/ week, from 6 to 8 hours/day.

Swimming Skills:

Basic swim skills are required for any water activities.

Scuba Diving:

Scuba certification is not required; nor does it make you more attractive as an applicant.

If you are not certified, the working vacation may be the perfect opportunity for you to do so. We offer scuba certification classes. Although the certification class will take up to 3 days of your stay, you will also have the chance to observe the production side of our company.

If you are interested in SCUBA certification, we strongly encourage you to do the swimming pool and book work at a local PADI dive shop before you come to Hawaii, but we prefer to do the actual open water certification dives here.

If you have your own camera and underwater housing, please bring it with you.
This is the perfect environment to use it either while snorkeling or scuba diving.

Health Insurance:

Participants are required to have their own health insurance.

Costs

Housing & Food:

We provide our working vacationer with accommodations on site. Our facility is about 15 minutes away from town and the ocean (by car or scooter). There are two bedrooms, a separate bathroom, an outdoor kitchen and a huge sun deck with ocean view. The bedrooms have cable TV and WiFi. You may share a room with someone of the same gender.
The cost for housing and food also includes airport pick-up and drop-off (if you do not rent a car), two boat charters and utilities (water and electricity). It does not include State Tax of 4.2 %.

Cost for Housing & Food

1 week program     $ 1.000
2 week program     $ 2.000

Payment for Housing & Food:

100 % of the amount of the program is due and payable 30 days in advance of your program (by cashiers check, money order or wire transfer).
Once we receive the payment we will send you an orientation pack including information on how to prepare for your trip to Hawaii as well as material for your courses.

Deposit:

Once you are accepted, we require a $ 300 deposit to reserve your slot, which will be applied to the total costs.
Please note that the deposit is nonrefundable; however, it may be transferable should you no longer be able to participate in your scheduled time frame.

Cancellation of Program:

If you cancel within the 30 day-window of your start date, we charge a $ 200 cancellation free.

Boat Excursions:

There is no charge for two boat excursions/week if the working vacationer joins one of our professional photographers.

Scuba Classes:

Check out the curriculum with the scuba classes that we offer. You will find detailed information about each course from entry to advanced level.

Scuba Gear Rental:

If participants elect to scuba dive and don't have scuba gear, we will charge a gear-rental fee of $ 25 per day of diving for wetsuit, regulator, BC's, fins, mask and snorkel.

Transportation:

No transportation is necessary to and from work, because you live close to the studio, which is the starting point for every excursion. You will need a car or scooter during your free time to town and/or beach. For longer trips around the island, you will need a rental car.

Application Fee:

In addition, we charge a non-refundable application fee of $ 25 for every individual who wants to be considered for participation in our working vacation program. The $ 25 application fee separates those that are serious about coming to Hawaii and those that may simply be curious about it.

Once you have submitted your online application and you are selected, you will make travel arrangements (at your own expense) to coincide with the start date of your program.
